Life in a rural community is busy. Between work, family, farms, and commitments, free time can feel limited—but volunteering with Arena EMS is more flexible and rewarding than many people expect. Our volunteers are parents, neighbors, and local professionals who step up when it matters most. Whether you can give a few hours a month or want to become more deeply involved, there’s a place for you here.
Volunteering isn’t just about emergencies—it’s about protecting the people you care about, building valuable life skills, and strengthening the community you call home. Arena EMS provides training, support, and a team atmosphere that feels like family. When you volunteer, you’re not doing it alone—you’re doing it together.
Volunteer coverage helps fill the gaps when our community needs it most.
Weekday daytime hours from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. are typically covered by 3 Full-time EMT staff, but we rely on additional volunteer support—especially from those who work from home or are available locally during the day. Evening and weekend coverage is provided by volunteers through 12-hour shifts (6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.), and ideally volunteers are able to pick up around six shifts per month. We also welcome volunteer drivers who can respond to the station and drive the ambulance to the scene, playing a vital role in getting help where it’s needed, quickly and safely.
